About Us

Pro-SeedProsperity through Sustainable Education and Employment Development – is a small charitable trust run by a team of dedicated volunteer trustees.

Pro-Seed assists small, volunteer run charities and NGOs focused on educational and employment generation projects in Southern and Eastern Africa, or who operate in other low income countries but would like to establish operations in Southern or Eastern Africa.

Our core focus is to assist small charities and NGOs focused on educational and employment generation projects in Southern and Eastern Africa.

We believe that such organisations are capable of having a much higher impact for a given level of funding support, than their far larger competitors. And yet these organisations frequently struggle to secure the funding they need to achieve all they are capable of, primarily because they are well off the radar screen of the major funders, who quite simply do not have the time and resource to consider investing in a small charity. In addition these small charities do not have the required infrastructure and management to effectively absorb a significant increase in their funding level.

Pro-Seed will work with dynamic, well managed, high impact, small charities and NGOs, which meet our funding criteria. The key things we look for are a management and funding structure which are likely to be sustainable into the future coupled with the desire, vision and leadership to effectively deliver an expanded level of service provision

The relationship will start with a smaller level of funding from Pro-Seed for a specific project. If the relationship proves to be mutually beneficial then Pro-Seed will commit to an ongoing level of funding for the medium term.

In addition Pro-Seed provides support in two other areas:

  1. Yacumadre is a project to the East of Medellin in Colombia which is jointly managed by Tom Jenkins, one of our Trustees. It is aiming to introduce sustainable organic farming and to reinstate and protect areas of the rainforest through replanting or purchase.
  2. Any trustee who is passionate about supporting an alternative charitable cause may look to make a recommendation to do so on a case by case basis. Through this channel we have provide support to five displaced Ukrainians and made small occasional donations to other charities.
