4 Kenya Trust – Kenya School for Integrated Medicine (KSIM)

4Kenya Trust founded Kenya School of Integrated Medicine (KSIM) in 2007 to train community health workers who can deliver accessible and effective healthcare. KSIM is based in Kwale, around 30km southwest of Mombasa.

To date, KSIM has trained over 1,200 students – around 70% women, many from marginalised rural communities – who now work in health promotion, nutrition, disease prevention, and frontline community care. The school currently trains around 360 students each year across three intakes.

To remove financial barriers to training, KSIM is supported by the 4Kenya Revolving Education Fund, a sustainable loan scheme managed by Kenya’s Higher Education Loan Board. Graduates repay their loans once employed, allowing the fund to support future students and create a self-sustaining cycle of education and employment.

ProSeed has supported KSIM by funding six students through this programme, helping expand access to training and strengthen community healthcare capacity in Kenya.
